Thank God for technology, amiright?
I mean, we have these simple to use, easy to access mini computers that fit into our hands that can accomplish tasks that nobody ever thought possible until about 15 years ago. It’s pretty amazing times we are living in.
But to make that even better, there are apps out there that were designed to help you earn money simply and easily. Many of them will even directly deposit the cash right into your PayPal account. Pretty sweet, huh?
I’ve compiled a list of 5 of these easy to use apps that I have personally found to be very handy when it comes to saving and earning money, even if it’s just a little bit at a time. Every penny counts, right? And for us, all of this extra money is going towards our debt snowball to pay off our family’s SIX FIGURES in student loan debt.
Ibotta has been around for several years, apparently, but there are still many out there that haven’t heard of it yet. Ibotta is super easy to use and FREE. You download the app, shop at one of the many retailers it lists (i.e. Walmart, Kroger, HEB, CVS, Walgreens, Target, etc) and then select items that they have listed. You earn money when you purchase those items. After you purchase them, you redeem them by snapping a quick photo of your receipt. It’s that easy! I’ve only been using it for about 3 weeks and already have about $13 earned. I have several friends that have earned several hundred dollars! And right now, Ibotta is giving new users a $10 sign-up bonus, just for redeeming their first receipt. Available for iPhone and Android.
Acorns has to be one of the coolest money making/saving apps that I’ve come across and it’s FREE. The concept is simple: You add your bank account and debt/credit cards, and Acorns will “round up” every purchase to the next dollar amount and invest the difference. For example, if you purchase a coffee for $2.50, Acorns will automatically invest .50 into your account. Every dollar you invest is automatically diversified across 7,000 stocks and bonds to help improve your return while reducing risk. If you use this link, you get $5 to get you started on your investment account! Of course you can even add more money at any time into your account, it doesn’t have to be just spare change, but that’s just an easy way to save and invest without really thinking about it. A friend of mine says she’s used it for a couple years and has effortlessly saved for a yearly family vacation, just by “rounding up” her purchases with Acorns! Available for iPhone and Android.
I’ve been using Digit for about 6 months now. I initially signed up for it with our Amazon/eBay business checking out so that we can easily sock away some extra cash for a rainy day or for taxes, just whatever we needed it for. What Digit does is connects to your checking account and “learns” your spending habits. When it seems fitting, it will take money from your account and save it. For us, the amounts can vary from a couple bucks up to 40 bucks or more. They guarantee that you will never overdraft or else they will pay your overdraft fees! And so far, we have never overdrafted. Now, Digit isn’t free anymore, it is $2.99 a month, but I consider that a very small fee to pay for effortless saving. And no, it doesn’t earn you money, per se, but a dollar saved is a dollar earned, right? 😉 So far we have saved $440 and haven’t even missed it. I’m sure we’ll pull it out at some point and throw it towards our debt! Available for iPhone and Android.
I’m sure you’ve heard of Lyft before, but it is a great way to earn some easy money. There are many Lyft drivers that only work Friday nights and earn hundreds of extra dollars a month! If you live in a big city or college town, you can see how easy it would be to make bank with this app, and also meet new people!
If you can remember to use it for big purchases especially, you can really earn some good money on Ebates. My husband uses it mainly for purchases made for our side hustle Amazon business but I also use it for every day spending as well. There is also a nifty Chrome extension that allows you to easily activate Ebates whenever you are on a site that works with it, even eBay and Walmart.
So there you have it, 5 easy to use apps that will help YOU to earn money quite effortlessly. Easy money, who can argue with that? I hope you find the list useful and in the future I plan on making another post with even more useful money earning apps!
